Psychologist Ross Brandli

I began working in the helping professions in 1999 while studying psychology at QUT. Over the years, I have worked in a range of roles including telephone counselling, homelessness support services, training and education, and corporate environments. These experiences have given me an appreciation for the diverse challenges people face and the many ways individuals find strength and resilience during difficult times.

My interest in psychology was first sparked while travelling through India, where I was introduced to mindfulness practices and approaches to self-awareness that continue to influence my thinking today. This experience helped shape my belief that personal growth often begins with a deeper understanding of ourselves and our emotional experiences.

My approach is client-centred, collaborative, and practical. I believe that many of the difficulties we encounter in life are connected to the things we value most. Emotions can sometimes feel overwhelming, yet they often provide important information about our needs, relationships, goals, and sense of identity. Rather than viewing emotions as obstacles to overcome, I help clients develop a greater understanding of their emotional experiences and learn how to work with them more effectively.

I am particularly interested in helping people build emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and healthier relationships. By developing a clearer understanding of ourselves and our patterns of thinking, feeling, and responding, we can make more intentional choices and create meaningful change. While life’s setbacks can be painful, they can also become opportunities for growth, resilience, and a deeper connection with what matters most.

I work with adults experiencing a broad range of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, life transitions, ADHD, workplace injuries, and return-to-work challenges. I also have a particular interest in supporting emergency services personnel and members of the Australian Defence Force.
